Although the construction of the Metrorail station is nearing completion, there have been created new complications with the landing stations. Despite the cold war with the city authorities over the descent of stairs, lifts and escalators, the Metrorail authorities claim that the problem are almost resolved. Moreover, the owners of the building said that they will not leave the place if they do not get the money to acquire the land.
According to the information, the station was built without deciding where the stairs and lifts of the metro rail will go down.up.
The spaces of landing stations were not available at Pallabi, Kazipara and Shewrapara. The dispute with the city authorities started when the metro authorities decided to lower the stairs on the sidewalk.
Half of the capital’s eight-foot-long sidewalk has already gone into the hands of influential people since long. And now if the seven feet stairs of the metro descend, walking on the sidewalk will become impossible.
After a lot of turmoil, the ice of complexity has finally started to melt, said MAN Siddique, Managing Director of the project.
Meanwhile, despite the talk of acquiring land and constructing stairs, the landowners said that there has not been much progress in the last few months except surveying and measurement.
Many are also worried about the future of the building and the business if it is re-acquired.
Public transport expert Shamsul Haque says the cost of the Metrorail project has increased due to inefficiency. Even then, the project concerned hopes that if the metro rail is introduced after overcoming all the hurdles and complications, the suffering of the city dwellers will be reduced.
