Mohammad Younus Ali, Manikganj :

In Chandra area of Sadarupazila of Manikganj, the owners of the adjoining lands have applied to various departments including the deputy commissioner for fear of loss if a boundary wall is constructed outside the road pillars of LGED.
It is learned that a boundary wall is being constructed at Chandra area of Dighi union of ManikganjSadarupazila about 12 feet west of the boundary pillar on the east side of LGED road. Landowners on the west side of the road are fearing damage.
According to SA records, the road from Manikganj to Bangladesh Hat was constructed 30 years ago on behalf of the Local Government Department-LGED and boundary pillars were erected on the east and west sides of the road.
According to the boundary pillar, the landowners on the west side of the road have been using their land for various purposes including building houses. Now the Public Works Department has started the construction work of the boundary wall of Colonel Malek Medical College about 12 feet west after crossing the boundary pillar on the east side of the road.
This has caused outrage among landowners on the west side of the road. They say they have no objection to Colonel Malek Medical’s boundary wall 12 feet west.
But after the construction of the boundary wall 12 feet west, if that wall is demarcated, it will be difficult to measure the land in the future.
In the future, everyone’s land on the west side will be reduced by 12 feet. So they have sought the attention of District Administration, LGED, Public Works Department, AC Land Office.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif said, “We have to see how much has been acquired first.” Necessary action will be taken after looking at the documents. Locals will not be harmed.
