The National Youth Day was observed in Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner yesterday .
Upazila Youth Development Directorate and Upazila Administration jointly organised the programme as a part of the countrywide programme.
In this connection, a colorful rally led by Margina Akter, UNO , Gouripur Upazila was brought out from UNO office premises and terminated at the same place after parading the main roads of the town
This year the theme of the day is “Self employed youth force, foundation of the sustainable development”.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at Zora Amtala Chottar of Upazila Parishad where UNO , Gouripur, Margina Akter was present as the chief guest with Upazila Youth Development Officer Nandan Kumar Biswas in the chair and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience by focusing on most important point of youth issue.
UNO, Margina Akter in her speech said , it is youth community who can make our country happy and prosperous by deploying their energy, devotion, skill, patriotism and honesty.
Other speakers mentioning the contributions of the youths in different national crises including the great liberation war said that youths are the most potential resource of a nation and they must not be exploited for evil purposes.

A discussion on Youth Development make the Digital Bangladesh was held at Local Collectorate Conference room on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest while Deputy Director of Youth Development Md. Rokunuddin Bhuiyan in the chair.
It was addressed among others by ADC (General & D.S) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil as special guest, A.D.M Md. Alamgir Hossein, Senior Megistrate Abu Taher Sayeed, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, Women Leader Bilkis Begum, Senior Assistant Director Nadia Zaman, Zohirul Islam, Assistant Director Kushom Akhter and Press Club General Secretary Saiful Malek Chowdhury.

BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a discussion here yesterday termed the skilled youth forces as the main foundation of sustainable development.
They viewed utmost emphasis should be given on transforming them into competent human resources. All the government and non-government agencies concerned should come forward and work together to attain the cherished goal.
District Administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) jointly organized the discussion at Teachers Training College auditorium to mark the National Youth Day-2017.
The speakers opined that transforming the youths into worthy citizens has become an urgent need for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
Importance should be given on involving the unemployed youths in various income-generation activities for protecting them from drug addiction and different other anti-social activities.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman and Principal of Teachers Training College Prof Deelrose Ara addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Additional District Magistrate Subrata Paul in the chair. Deputy Director of DYD Matiur Rahman welcomed the participants.
Chief Guest Nur-Ur-Rahman said importance should be given on transforming the youths into skilled citizens through imparting them with training on different vocations.
He viewed that many of the youths became derailed due to lack of proper care and nursing besides bad association and ultimately they become burden of the society that is unfortunate for the nation. He urged the attending youths to extend their whole-hearted cooperation to police for freeing the young generation from drug-addiction.
