Community Policing Day observed in Rangpur

Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians have taken an oath in Rangpur to build a prosperous Bangladesh. People from different walks of life have joined them in swearing an oath to stop the evil forces that are destroying communal harmony. Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RPMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud administered the oath of office at a symposium at Bangabandhu Mural Square in the city on Saturday morning.
RPMP organized the event on the occasion of Community Policing Day. The slogan of the day of this year is ‘Police Policy, Public Service and Friendship in Mujib Year’. The formality of the sympathy conference started at 10:30 am by releasing pigeons as a symbol of peace. Muslim religious leader Bayazid Hossain, Hindu religious leader Bhakti Priyam Gadadhar Goswami Maharaj, Buddhist religious leader Shubhamitra Bhikkhu, Christian religious leader Vijay Akra, RPMP Additional Commissioner of Police (DC] M Mohidul Islam and leaders of various units of community policing addressed the conference.
President of Community Policing, Bir Muktijoddha Moshaddek Hossain Bablu. At the end of the rally, voluntary blood donation and diabetes test camp was held at the same place. A friendly cricket match was arranged at Rangpur Zilla School ground at 12.30 pm. The day-long program also included planting of thousands of saplings up to 2 km on both sides of Mekura Road in Mahiganj and distribution of quality food among the needy in different areas.
The end of the program had discussion meeting on the role of community policing in the formation of Bangladesh, Purs Car distribution and award ceremony.
It may be mentioned that RPMP started its journey on 16 September 2016. As the first commissioner, community policing activities were started in six police stations of RPMP on the initiative of Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud. In the meantime, community policing law enforcement activities and social service initiatives have been praised at all levels
