Community involvement in health sector stressed to reduce corruption

Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed has laid emphasis on involvement of the local community people to reduce corruption in the health sector.
“High officials in the health sector should strengthen monitoring attendance of the physicians, nurses and other employees at public hospitals and health services by using digitised technologies to take necessary actions accordingly,” he said.
Dr Nasiruddin came up with the opinion at a workshop on “Rendering Corruption-free and Quality Health Services” held recently at Begum Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh in Rangpur as the chief guest.
The Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being funded by German Development Cooperation (GIZ), Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and ACC jointly organised the workshop.
Secretary to the ACC Dr Md Shamsul Arefin addressed the workshop as special guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib in the chair.
Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk, Rajshahi Divisional Director of ACC Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, Police Super Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Director of Combined Rangpur District Office of ACC Mozahar Ali Sarder, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Mostafizur Rahman, Director of Rangpur Medical College Hospital Professor Ajay Kumar Roy, among others, addressed the event.
