Open spaces in front of residences are rarely seen these days in Dhaka. But the scenario was not like this a few decades ago. Most of the city homesused to have some open space, where adults could enjoy nature and children could enjoy their time by playing around. But the population of the country is growing rapidly, especially in the capital city, as many people come here to earn their livelihood. The number of population is increasing day by day, but the amount of space remains the same. So more buildings are being constructedto accommodate theever-growing number of people and the number of open spaces is decreasing alarmingly. Most of the city dwellers are migrants who came from different parts of the country or around the world and they rent houses to live there.
Owners or developers have to construct multi-storied buildings to provide accommodation for the mostamounts of people. So instead of living in small houses, people now prefer to live in apartments as these are more affordable when compared to expensive houses or duplexes with a lawn for spending some relaxing time. As most of the people in Bangladesh are from a middle-class family, they prefer to live in apartments, which are more affordable. To enjoy the facilities of an open place in front of their residences, they can choose community apartments as those have a common playground, or park and garage, where they can keep their vehicles after their busy workday.
One of the positive sides of living in an apartment is increased safety. In most of the cases, community apartments have CCTV cameras in front of all entrances. At the same time, CCTV cameras are also installed in front of elevators or stairs, which cover entrances of apartments. And since most of the people a community apartment know each other, they can provide help when required.
