The probe committee assigned to investigate the assault on two journalists during the hartal last week in the city submitted the report on Monday night.
They have mentioned four names with several others, who were involved with assaulting the journalists of a private TV channel in Shahbagh area. The identified cop members are
Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspectors Subrata Poddar, Abdur Rahman, Imam Arefin and ASI Ershad Mondal, said Maruf Hossain Sardar, Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The departmental action will be taken against the guilty, the police official said.
Earlier, a three-member investigation committee led by Ramna Zone ADC Nabid Kamal Shaibal was formed to probe the assault on journalists taking place on January 26. The two other members are Ramna Division ADC Azimul Haque and Assistant Commissiner Ehsanul Haque.
Police tortured ATN News Correspondent Kazi Ehsan Dider and its Cameraperson Abdul Alim physically at Shahbagh when they were performing professional duties. The Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ershad Mondal has already been suspended on charge of beating the journalists.
