The Dhaka University(DU) authorities on Monday formed a committee to celebrate 50-year anniversary of the country’s independence along with 100-year anniversary of the university in 2021 in a befitting manner.
The 21-member committee was formed with Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Nasreen Ahmad as convener and Earth and Environmental Science Faculty Dean Professor ASM Maksud Kamal as member secretary to plan and design the goals ahead of the two major events, said a DU press release.
The other members of the committee are– Professor Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman, former DU VC Dr A K Azad Chowdhury, Professor Emeritus Dr Serajul Islam Choudhury, DU Treasurer Dr Kamal Uddin, Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah, Professor Ajoy Kumer Roy, Professor Dr Mahbubul Mokaddem Akash, Director General of Bangla Academy A K M Shamsuzzaman Khan, President of Bangladesh Diabetes Society Dr A K Azad Khan and noted dramatist Ramendu Majumder.
Representatives from senate and syndicate of DU; deans of the science, social science, business and biological science faculties ; representatives from DU Alumni Association and student representatives from the next Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) poll will also includes in the committee.
The DU authorities also urged the alumni to give proposals for the celebration of the two jubilees which will be held in 2021.
