Bangabandhu BPL Cricket: Comilla thrash Khulna

Comilla Victorians thrashed Khulna Tigers by 65 runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Sent into bat first, Comilla piled up a mammoth total of 188 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then bundled out Khulna for 123 off 19.3 overs.
Comilla made an auspicious start as the two openers Liton Das and Mahmudul Hasan Joy added together 43 runs in the opening stand before Joy (11) was caught at the cover by Yasir Ali off Nabil Samad.
After Joy’s dismissal, Liton Das was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Thisara Perera when Comilla’s total was 52 for the loss of two wickets.
Liton Das hit a windy 41. He hit three sixes and four fours in his 17-ball innings.
After Liton’s departure, Imrul Kayes (5) was caught at the deep midwicket by substitute Tanzid Hasan off Khaled Ahmed when Comilla’s score was 71 for the loss of three wickets.
After Imrul’s removal, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali built a worthy partnership. They put on together 83 runs in the four-wicket stand before Faf du Plessis was caught at the cover by Yasir Ali off Soumya Sarkar when Comilla’s total was 154 for the loss of four wickets.
Faf du Plessis hit a respectable 38. His 36-ball knock had three fours and a sixer.
After Faf’s departure, Sunil Narine (0) was bowled out by Mahedi Hasan when Comilla’s score was 158 for the loss of five wickets.
Then, Moeen Ali was caught at the long-off by Andre Fletcher when Comilla’s total was 174 for the loss of six wickets.
Moeen Ali notched up a terrific 75. His 35-ball innings was ornamented with nine sixes and a four. Moeen Ali claimed two wickets for 20 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his superb all-round performance.
Thisara Perera was his team’s most successful bowler with two wickets for 28 runs.
Later, batters of Khulna failed to make any notable partnership and they failed to face superb bowling attack of Comilla Victorians.
Thisara Perera and Soumya Srakar added 26 and 22 runs respectively to the Khulna total.
Abu Hider grabbed three wickets in the space of 19 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman, Nahudul Islam bagged two wickets each giving 16 and 28 runs respectively.
