A local activist of Awami League was killed by hitting with hammer and stabbing by some miscreants over previous enmity at Shibpur village in Sadar Dakkhin upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shahidullah,35, an activist of Awami League and nephew of Selim Mia, chairman of Baropara union parishad. Selim Mia said a gang of miscreants swooped on Shahidullah over previous enmity and hit him with hammer and stabbed and beat him, leaving him critically injured around 10:30 pm on Wednesday. Shahidullah was rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 2 am. On information, police sent the body to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakkhin Police Station.
Police also arrested two people-Rafiqul Islam and Abdul Wadud-in connection with the incident.
