Bangladesh Youth Games will formally be inaugurated through a colourful ceremony tomorrow (Saturday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to open the final phase of the Youth Games as the chief guest in the evening.
The ceremonies committee has already taken extensive plans to make the inauguration ceremony more attractive. Apart from march-past by the eight participating divisions, fireworks and laser show are expected to be featured in the opening ceremony.
It is expected that Event management Antor Show Biz will bring innovation to make the inauguration ceremony more attractive.
Country’s famous shooter Asif Hossain Khan will light the torch of the twenty crore budget of the Games. The winning team of the Games will get trophy.
In the final phase of the Games, the team event disciplines included football, kabaddi, basketball, volleyball, handball and hockey included as while athletics, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu shooting, archery, badminton, boxing, chess, judo, karate, taekwondo and squash.
A total of 2,260 U-17 athletes will compete for 1,114 medals in 159 events in the final phase. The steering committee already finalized the venues for 21 disciplines.
This was disclosed at a press conference held on Thursday at BOA auditorium.
BOA secretary general Syed Shayed Reza, Youth Games media and publicity committee’s chairman and BOA vice president Sheikh Boshir Ahmed, Bangladesh Youth Games steering committee member secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku, and BOA deputy secretary general Asaduzaman Kohinoor were present on the occasion.
