A gunman opened fire at a supermarket in central-North Boulder, the state of Colorado in the United States, killing at least 10 people, including a police officer on Monday at 3:00 pm local time, reported Reuters, citing the police officials.
According to police, the gunmen stormed the supermarket called ‘King Soopers Grocery Store’ in the Table Mesa area of ??Boulder. The probable cause of the incident was not yet known.
The suspected shooter who injured in the incident was captured, however, the police did not release the name of the detained person. “He is in police custody,” said Boulder City Police Chief Maris Herold.
Police did not provide any information on what type of weapon the gunmen used in the attack. However, a senior law enforcement official said a “semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle” was used in the attack.
Boulder Police Department Commander Kerry Yamaguchi did not provide details about the suspect, but video footage showed — police handcuffing a bearded man wearing a shirtless boxer short a few hours after the attack. He was later taken to the ambulance on a stretcher. He was seen limping while walking.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in a tweet that “we’re getting news of the tragedy. My prayers are for the people of Colorado at this time of pain.”
