College student stabbed to death by fellow BCL activists in Sylhet

UNB, Sylhet :An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed in a factional clash over establishing unilateral control over Madanmohan College in the city on Wednesday.The victim was identified as Ali Ahmed, 19, 2nd year student of the college and son of Aklis Mia of Shilam village in Dakkhin Surma upazila. Sources said, Ali was an activist of Bidhan Saha group of Madanmohon College unit of BCL.The infighting ensued following an altercation between two rival groups of BCL over establishing supremacy on the college campus at around 12 pm. At one stage, rival group members took Ali to the 1st floor of the academic building of the college and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.Later, he was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:40 pm. Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kotowali Police Station, said Police arrested one Ruhul in this connection.
