Staff Reporter :A college student was shot dead and three others were injured by unidentified armed men at Amishapara Botgram village in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali district on Friday.The deceased was identified as Md Asif Uddin Shanto, son of Md Sahab Uddin Master from Botgram and a second year honours student of Noakhali Government College.Meanwhile, three injured were taken to Noakhali General Hospital.Locals said, a group of 10 to 12 armed men broke into Shanto’s house early Friday. They shot Shanto when he tried to rescue the family members. He was taken to Noakhali General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.Shanto went home to celebrate Eid with his family after appearing in the honours final examinations, said a relative of the victim.Sonaimuri OC Kazi Haniful Islam confirmed the death to The New Nation on Friday. The family members claimed that Asif’s younger brother had locked into a quarrel with some people over a mobile phone set a few days ago and those people might have conducted the incident.
