College girl freed soon after abduction in Uttara

Miscreants released the kidnapped college girl after killing a security guard in Uttara Model Town of the city on Thursday night.
The miscreants released Fatematuz Zohra, 17, 1st year student of Cambrian School and College, Uttara campus, after at about half an hour, at around 11:20 pm at a spot near the California fast food shop at Uttara Sector 4.
The police detained four people from Kafrul area in connection with the incident.
The deceased security guard was identified as Liakat Hossain Liton, 38, son of Nazmul Huda from Kaliganj Munshipara in Pirganj uapzila of Rangpur.
Mohidul Islam, Sub-Inspector of Uttara East Police Station, said a group of armed miscreants on a private car intercepted Fatematuz Zohra near Road-3, Sector 4, and took her into a car while she along with her mother and Mahfuz fiance were returning home around 10:55 pm.
When Mahfuz and security guard Liton tried to resist the attackers, they shot Liton in the abdomen and hit Mahfuz with sharp weapon, leaving both injured.
Later, critically injured Liton was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
When contacted over telephone, Fatema’s mother Nurun Nahar Munni told UNB that the suspected abductors released her daughter near the California fast food shop. Later, Fatema returned to her residence on her own.
She said that before releasing Fatema, the kidnappers took away gold ornaments weighing about three tolas, cash Tk 16,000 and other valuables from her.
Meanwhile, sub-inspector Naznin Khan, duty officer of Uttara East police station, said that Nurun Nahar Munni filed a case with the police station in connection with the killing and abduction incident.
But SI Naznin did not confirm any arrest in connection with the incident.
However, police sources said four people were detained from Kafrul area on early Friday in connection with the incident.
