Collective efforts of all government, non-government and volunteer organisations concerned has become crucial for protecting human rights for ensuring dignified life of the people.
People of all levels should raise their voices for establishing their equal rights in the society besides forging social resistance against the violators of human rights.
Social watchdogs and development activists came up with the observation while addressing a post-rally discussion organised by Rajshahi Manobadhikar Jote at Hotel Warisan in Rajshahi city today.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan from Rajshahi University and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat spoke as resource persons.
Executive Director of Anagrasar Samaj Unnayan Sangstha Raj Kumar Shaon, Director of Barendra Unnayan Prochesta Foyezullah Chowdhury and Executive Director of Sankalpa Society Everest Hembrom and local unit president of Jatiya Adibashi Parishad Bimol Chandra Rajoar also spoke.
Members of the civil society, social watchdogs and pressure group members joined the meeting and took part in its open discussion putting forward a set of recommendations on how to protect human rights.
Abdul Jalil said establishing transparency and accountability in every sphere of life can be the best ways of ensuring human rights to all.
He said the human rights situation should be improved collectively and the social watchdogs can play a vital role in this regard.
The meeting was told that ensuring social justice and sustainable development of living and livelihood conditions of ethnically minority communities is needed.
The ethnic communities should be given the rights of land, food, healthcare, education and cultural opportunities. So, all the government and non-government entities concerned should come forward and work together to this end.
