The wholesale hoarders of hides & skin now in utter fraustration due to non-fulfillment of targets of collection.
The hoarders blamed for less collection of hides and skin due to decrease of sacrfifical animals this year as well as fixation of hides price.
Besides, the hoarders fear of loss due to procurement of hides with high prices giving competitions with the seasonal hide traders. President of Chittagong Hides Skin Hoarders Association Md. Sekander told that targets of collection was 5 lakh hides this year consists of cow 4 lakh, 90 thousands of goat and 10 thousands of buffalo but the hoarders procured only 3 lakh hides upto Saturday .
He said the total procurement including from Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban,Rangamati and Khagrachari. Due high prices and cattle crisis in the cattle market this year, the numbers of sacrificial animal was considerably less than the previous years.
The numbers of Korbanis decreased to some extents due to abnormal price of sacrificial animal in last hour .
Some of the traders of the city blamed smuggling of salt processed hides to neighbouring country with high prices by a group of seasonal traders. Owner of Shah Amanat Hoarding Taiyub Sowdagar told that one seasonal hides skin group procured hides with high price and they processed this hides with salt aimed at smuggling.
The Bangladesh Tanners Association, Bangladesh Hides Skin Merchants Association and Bangladesh Finished Leather, footwear Exporters Association earler fixed the prices of raw leather with maximum prices ranging from Tk.50 to 55 per sft. and Tk. 20 for cow and goat respectively, owner of Nure Madina Leather told the media that the slaughtering of sacrificial animal comparatively less than the previous years as such the collection of raw hides was less .
