Cold weather makes life hard in Sylhet

Severe cold is prevailing in Sylhet district now. As a result, people of all classes are passing a very miserable time. Life has almost come to a standstill because of cold waves over the last Three days. According to the district weather office, a mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over the northern district and it may continue next few days. On Tuesday, the temperature was recorded at 17 C.
Normal life has been hampered due to the prevailing rough weather. People of low income are particularly suffering much. The day labours, rickshaw pullers, Coolies, hawkers are facing the difficulty most.
Saiful Alam, 65, under Dakshin Surma Upazila, said, “I am the only earner of my family. I could not get any work last four days. So, my family members are fasting. I don’t know what will happen next days.”
On the other hand, the number of patients is increasing remarkably in the district now. The elderly people and the children have been affected much due to much cold.
Contacted with Civil Surgeon of Sylhet Dr. Premananda Mondol, said, “Cold weather brings some common diseases like cough, asthma, fever and diarrhea.
