Cold wave likely to abate by Feb 2

The current mild to moderate cold wave sweeping over some regions of the country might abate by February 2 as the mercury level is likely to rise across the country gradually.
“The moderate cold wave may abate from today. But the mild cold wave is likely to continue till February 1,” Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told BSS on Tuesday.
The cold wave situation might abate totally from February 2, he said.
Besides, the met office, in a press release, on Tuesday said mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and the regions of Tangail, Faridpur, Sitakunda, Rangamati, Srimangal, Jessore, Kushtia and Barisal.
Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country from midnight to today’s morning while weather may remain dry over the country, the release added.
The minimum temperature of the country was recorded on Tuesday 7.1 degrees celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division and the maximum temperature 27.7 degrees celsius at Teknaf in Chittagong division on Monday.
