The plight of common people are increasing day by day due to dense fog and biting cold wave. Poor people are the worst sufferers as they have no adequate warm clothes.
The sun light is not visible even day time. The almost day time are covered with fog causing the day laborers are not able to go to heir respective works. They are passing their idle times, several day laborers said.
The people of 16 river side including the Dharla,Brahmaputra, Teesra and Dudkumer as well as 200 char and island char areas are facing in a great trouble. They are warming themselves firing straw, papers and wastage woods to protect them from biting cold. Old aged persons and children are the main sufferers. All kings of birds including poultry birds are not out of cold. The drivers of buses, tracks and heavy vehicles are driving switching head lights due to fog. The driver of van driver of Kurigram municipality area Afzal Hopssain told that although it is 11am nut no sun light is visible causing I am passing the idle time in the cold wave.
The farmers are however preparing their respective lands for the upcoming Boro cultivation but the farmers are not going to the land due to biting cold and dense fog causing the cultivation may not bit be end in time, several farmers said.Talking the New Nation Sekendar Ali 54 of village Madaikhal under Nageswari upazila and Monnaf Ali 56 of village Mogolbacha under Sadar upazila in the district told that we am waiting as we don’t go to the land for cultivation due to biting cold.
On the other hand the second hand cloth traders are doing the brisk business. The cold hit people are rushing towards make ship as well as footpath shops to buy warm clothes in cheap rates. Warm clothes of new one in the shop are costly. Consequently the poor and common people are purchasing sweaters, jackets.cardigans, blankets for their near and dear one. Rana Miah 30 a second hand shop keeper of Nasar Uddin Market in the town told this correspondent that people of all walks of life are rushing to buy second hand clothes in cheap rates and we are also getting profit, he added.
