A mild cold wave has gripped the country, specially the northern region. This spell is expected to persist for a couple of days, according to Met Office forecast.
Dense fog may affect visibility on rivers from midnight to morning, while light to medium fog is forecast for other places. Temperature is expected to remain unchanged throughout or to fall further slightly in the next few days.
Earlier, the Met office forecast three biting cold wave spells in January with temperature dropping below 6 degrees. However, in reality the cold wave remained mild till on
yesterday with the lowest temperature being in Dhaka around 11.7 degrees Celsius and the lowest temperature being in Tangail around 8.5 degrees Celsius.
Md. Shah Alam, Director of Met Office, told this reporter that the ongoing low temperature will continue for another one or two days with the weather improving near the end of this week.
Another mild cold wave is likely to hit the country around January 20 or 21 which will also continue for a couple of days, he said.
