Bangladesh Cold Chain Expo 2016, the first ever in Bangladesh, held on Tuesday in the city.
Organized by the USAID-Cold Chain Bangladesh Alliance Project, of Winrock International, the theme of the exhibition was ‘Building Today for the Bangladesh of Tomorrow’.
Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, MP, former Minister, Ministry of Food, and Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Finance inaugurated the Expo.
Chief of Party, Cold Chain Bangladesh Alliance, Dr. A.B. Siddiqui welcomed the participants, while Matt Curtis of USAID gave his opening remarks.
Eric Sorensen presented key note paper on” Urban Cold Chain Logistics for an Emerging Economy.
In his welcome address Chief of Party informed that today roughly one-third of the edible parts of food produced for human consumption, gets lost or wasted globally, which is about 1.3 billion ton per year.
