Staff Reporter :Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday night announced a 201-member new committee of its students wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), with Rajib Ahsan and Akramul Hasan as President and General Secretary respectively.But protesting the newly formed committee, some deprived leaders and activists of the JCD brought out a protest procession near BNP central office at Naya Paltan in the city on Wednesday afternoon.The police however dispersed the procession when it reached the party office chanting slogans against the leaders of the new committee. Six to seven cocktails were also blasted there by the processionists. Police arrested three persons namely Hafiz Nazir Hossain, Tawhid Hossain and Baki Billah from the procession. Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Morshed said that the arrested persons were being questioned about the blast. “Legal action will follow if clear evidences are found”, the officer said. Additional police are guarding the party office since the incident. Some important office-bearers of the committee are Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Senior Vice-President, Asaduzzaman Asad, First Joint-Secretary, Ishaq Sarker, Organising Secretary, Mahmudul Islam Himel, Publicity Secretary, Abdus Sattar Patwari, Office Secretary and Fahmida Majid Usha, Female Student Affairs Secretary. Rajib was the Organising Secretary and Akram held the post of Joint Secretary of the JCD’s last committee. According to the JCD charter, its central committee is formed in every two years. No central JCD committee was however formed through council after 1993.
