Staff Reporter :More explosions targeting the political leaders’ residences and business houses were reported from the country’s Dhaka, Chittagong and Jessore districts in the last 24 hours. At least seven persons, including two students, were seriously injured as miscreants blasted two cocktails in front of two gates of the New Market in the city on Thursday evening.Local people took them to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. The condition of one victim is stated to be critical. They have been identified as Piar Hossain, 17, student of the Dhaka College, Shahidul Islam,24, student of the Dhaka University, Sazal Hossain ,19, Nazim Uddin,20, Jamal Hossain ,55, Joynal ,20 and Shahjahan 20, a hawker. Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Police Camp in-charge confirmed the matter. New Market Thana officer-in-charge (OC) told The New Nation that the cocktails were blasted in front of the gates No-2 and 4 of the market at around 6:00pm.Miscreants hurled two cocktails in the residence of 23 No-Ward Awami League Vice-President Sarder Faisal Bashar Fuad at 10:00pm on Wednesday night. He lives at Malibagh in the city. Our Jessore Correspondent informed that at least 10 powerful bombs were blasted at residences and business institutions of four BNP leaders, including former Minister Tariqul Islam, and a cinema hall at Jessore town early on Thursday.Professor Nargis Begum, wife of Tariqul Islam, told The New Nation that two bombs were thrown inside their residence at 12:15am. According to her statement, she and a caretaker of the house were inside the house at that time.Two bombs were exploded also in the residence of district BNP’s General Secretary Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu at 1:00am. Saberul said that the glasses of a window were broken into pieces and some parts of the door-cover burnt.Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb in the business institution of the district BNP’s Joint-General Secretary and former President of Jessore Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mizanur Rahman Khan. As a result of the explosion the institution caught fire. The local people doused it. After a few minutes, two more explosions were heard in front of the Manushi Cinema Hall.Jessore district BNP’s Vice-President Golam Reza Dulu said that two bombs were stopped inside his house in the Karbala area. Talking to The New Nation, Jessore Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Enamul Haque said that none informed him of the development.But BNP leaders of the district claimed that they informed the OC of the bomb blast.Reshma Sharmin, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the district, declined to say anything about the reports of explosions. Miscreants blasted several cocktails on the premises of Land Office at Mirsarai in Chittagong district on Wednesday night.
