At least five passenger buses were torched in the capital Dhaka on Monday by the miscreants during the blockade.
A gang of miscreants blasted several petrol bombs on a passenger bus of United Pariabahan in the city’s
Shahbagh area on Monday night.
The driver of the bus, identified as Rashedul Islam, 35, received burn injures in the incident.
One of the alleged miscreants also received bullet injures as police opened fire targeting the fleeing miscreants. He was identified as Nur Mohammad, 31, police said.
Both the injured were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Quoting locals, Shahbagh Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Siarjul Islam said that some miscreants exploded several petrol bombs on a passenger bus around 8:00pm while police also fired targeting the miscreants.
One of the miscreants also caught by the locals, the police official said.
Another gang of miscreants set ablaze a passenger bus of Anabil Paribahan in the city’s Rampura area at 8:45pm.
They also hurled several cocktails bombs on the bus.
However, none was injured in the incident, said the Rampura thana OC Mahbubur Rahman.
Besides, two other passenger buses were set ablaze by miscreants in front of the Purabi Cinema Hall at Mirpur at 9:00pm and in front of the Modhumita Cinema Hall at Motijheel at 1.30pm.
