Cocaine-laden container worth Tk 100cr seized in Ctg Port

Customs Intelligence seized a cocaine-laden container in Chittagong Port on Saturday night. An importer brought the liquid cocaine in a container amounting to about Tk. 100 crores giving false declaration of oil import, said sources of the Customs Intelligence.
The customs and investigation officials sealed the container. It will be opened today for physical inventory of the consignment.
Intelligence sources said, on secret information, customs intelligence detected the container in the port and sealed it.
It is learnt that one Khan Jahan Ali Ltd of Nabi Market of Khatungonj in Chittagong brought the intoxicated liquid cocaine with false declaration of import of Sunflower Oil (container No.0145769/193844).
Customs sources said that there are 2,140 kgs of sunflower oil filled in 107 drums. These drums are filled with intoxicated liquid Cocaine.
Additional Inspector General of Police and special Branch of Police Headquarters from Dhaka informed the matter to Additional Police Commissioner on Chittagong on Saturday and directed to take step in this regard.
Following the directive, Additional Deputy Police Pommissioner of CMP (DB) SM Tanveer Arafat started investigation and the
DB police traced the address of the importer Jahan Ali Ltd of Chittagong. They quizzed owner of the firm Nur Mohammad. After quizzing, it was known that Sohel imported this consignment using the address and pad of the firm. Later, police arrested Sohel.
Sohel told the police that he brought the cocaine from Bolivia with the help of his cousin living in England.
