Acting on a tip-off, Chandpur Unit of Bangladesh Coast Guard led by its Station Commander Lt. Sadek Hossain seized 35 maunds of jelly mixed shrimps (worth about Tk 14 lakh) contained in 67 boxes while they were allegedly being smuggled to Chattogram via Chandpur’s Horina Ferry ghat on Monday last from Khulna area.
Filled with shrimps, the boxes were found lying abandoned on the bank of the Meghna River. Later the fish were buried under ground in presence of senior fisheries officers. The smugglers managed to flee sensing the drive..
