The Special Judge Court-2 of Dhaka yesterday deferred the hearing on the charge framing in the Barapukuria coal mine graft case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and 10 others to December 1.
Judge-in-Charge of the court AHM Ruhul Imran of the makeshift court set up at the Keraniganj Central Jail on Sunday fixed the new date after hearing. Earlier, the lawyers of BNP leader Khaleda Zia sought time for hearing in the case as the BNP Chief has been ill in a hospital of the capital.
The judge granted the plea for deferring the hearing, and fixed the new date, once again.
Of the accused people, Jamaat leaders Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed were executed for their crimes against humanity. Besides, former Agriculture Minister MK Anwar and another BNP Minister M Shamsul Islam also died.
On February 26, 2008, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Md Shamsul Alam filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station of the city.
