A coal laden cargo vessel named M V Zihadul Islam – 1 capsized into the river Bhairab at Patherbazar area under Khanjahan Ali police station in Khulna city on Wednesday afternoon .
Sources said, The cargo was coming from Mongla with a view to reach Noapara of Jashore district along with 620 metric tonnes of coal taking for Sarker Traders of Noapara. The started on December 24 from Mongla Harbaria port. The coal was loaded from mother vessel MV Ocean Future. On the way at Patherbazar area the cargo capsized into the river Bhairab due to collision with an unidentified thing, sources added. 11 persons of the cargo managed to escape from the scene.
Later the incident was informed to the proprietor of the cargo SM Shipping Md. Shahadat Hossain and also was informed to the Sarker Traders .
Md. Abdur Rasel Mia, Master of the cargo lodged a general diary (GD) with Khanjahan Ali police station in connection with the incident.
The capsized cargo could not be possible to lift from the river till filing this report on Friday afternoon.
