CNG stations to operate for 24 hrs from Oct 1-11

The CNG refueling stations across the country will remain open for 24 hours from October 1 to 11 to facilitate the smooth journey of passengers to be heading home to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha.
“CNG refueling stations will be kept open round the clock from October 1 to 11 on the occasion of upcoming Eid,” Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader said after an inter-ministerial meeting at city’s Ramna Restaurant. The minister said, movement of goods-carrying trucks, except cattle-laden and essential commodity-carrying ones, on highways will remain restricted three days before Eid and three days after the festival to ensure the smooth travel of home-goers.
He also said, cattle markets will not be allowed to be set up on roads and highways to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
Besides, in the capital, no cattle market will be permitted at Babubazar, Nayabazar, Armanitola and Taltola Bazar this time, he added.
Quader said, mobile courts-led by 10 magistrates-in the city areas will remain active to check the setting up of cattle markets haphazardly.
He also informed that a taskforce committee, headed by an additional secretary of LGRD Ministry, will work to keep the roads in the capital fit for plying vehicles during Eid.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Railways Minister Mujibul Haque, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Inspector General of Police (IGP), DCs, senior official concerned, representatives of bus owners’ association and workers union were present.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said all necessary steps have been taken to ensure the safe journey of home-bound passengers.
Railways Minister Mujibul Haque said special trains and additional coaches have been arranged for operation on the occasion of Eid.
