The government has decided to keep the CNG filling stations open round the clock till August 1 to ease people’s sufferings during Eid. The decision came into effect from 23 July.
Bangladesh CNG Filling Stations and Conversion Workshop Owners Association president Jakir Hossain Nayan thanked the government for the decision.
Petrobangla, the state-run Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources Corporation, will ensure gas supply for CNG filling stations as the demand for natural gas has dropped in power stations and domestic kitchens, officials said. The CNG filling stations will resume the old schedule of keeping shut for six hours every day, from August 2, from 3 PM to 9 PM, according to a release sent by Petrobangla.
The government, in the wake of gas shortage, started suspending gas supply to the CNG filling stations for six hours a day since 2010.
Petrobangla now supplies some 2,300 million cubic feet of natural gas a day to the national grid against the demand for over 3,000 million cubic feet.
