A court in Chapainawaganj on Tuesday sentenced a member of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen ment in a case filed under the Arms Act.
Judge of the Special Tribunal Court-3 Md Erfan Ullah handed down the verdict and also fined the convict Tk 5,000. In default, he will have to serve three more months in jail.
The convict was identified as Towhidul Islam, 35, son of Mahidur Rahman of Namodhobra Honyashi village in Shibganj upazila.
According to the prosecution, Detective Branch of police arrested Towhid along with a pistol and four bullets from Dhobra Bazar area on September 6, 2017.
A case was filed with Shibganj Police Station in this regard on September 30.
