Chittagong Metropolitan Police commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol decided to facilitate escorts to the movement of foreigners in Chittagong . After a hour-long emergency meeting of CMP on Sunday at its headquarters , police commissioner directed to provide escort to foreign nationals. Confirming the matter , Deputy Police commissioner Kusum dewan told the media that if any foreign national desires police help in their movement, concerned police station will provide escort him . Besides, police will deploy security measures in the working place of the foreigners and resident areas in the city.Mentionable that a number of foreign nationals work in Korean EPZ in Anowara upazila . They usually go to KEPZ on south bank of river Karnaphuli and everyday they cross the river and back in city residence in same way. Security should be provided during crossing the river , said CMP commissioner. In the meeting , all DC,ADC, AC, OC and SI have been asked to take the matter seriously and any negligence to this decision will be dealt seriously. All senior officials of CMP were present in the meet.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Metropolitan Police authority started census of the foreigners staying in the port city following the killings of two foreigners recently. Besides, compulsion of intimation to city Special Branch of Police regarding entrance of foreigners in city will be imposed immediately . CMP also asked the local residential hotels to sent the list foreign boarders immediate after his check-in . After killing of Italian citizen in Dhaka and Rangpur CMP taken up security measures for the foreigners .
Additional commissioner of Police Mr. Debdash Bhattachariya told the media that after capital city, maximum foreigners stay in the port city . He said all police posts, thanas and special branches have been alerted about the foreigners movement. all educational institutions have been asked to send the list of foreign students, teachers, consultants etc to police immediately. The meeting further decided to deploy additional security measures during the forthcoming Durga Puja, in the city, sources said.
