Additional Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police AKM Shahidur Rahman said police forces of CMP are determined to curb the militant activities in Chittagong .
He disclosed it at a press meet held CMP headquarters in Chittagong on Tuesday afternoon .
Additional Police commissioner(Crimes) Debdash Bhattachariya was also present in it. CMP arranged this press meet after arrest of 5 members including wing chief of JMB from Chittagong on Monday .
Additional Police commissioner Shahidur said CMP is always alert about the outlawed outfits and sought cooperation of the people irrespective of caste and creed. He said police forces have been altered in all police s tations and check posts through installing check posts in city following the killings of two foreigners .
With this continuity of alertness, police rounded up 5 militants of JMB from Karnaphuli thana area on Monday and the chief of zonal chief of militant group Javed was killed with the blast of grenade in their den .
Addl. Commissioner further said two persons were killed in Sadarghat area recently while snatching and grenade explosion by JMB men earlier and two also killed in a Mazar of Chittagong .
He also disclosed that within one month of hijacking case and after 15 days of killings at Mazar, CMP forces unearthed the den of JMB in Kowaznagar under Karnaphuli thana area on Monday and 5 militants alongwith arms and ammos were rounded up . The detainees are zonal wing chief Javed, 24, Bulbul Ahmed, 26, Sujon alias Babu, 25, Mahbub and Sohel. Additional Commissioner Debdash said JMB activist Sujon killed Pir alias Lanta Fakir of a Mazar in city and his associate Abdul Kader in Baizid area on September 4 last.
Among others Deputy police commissioner Kusum Dewan and the Addl. Deputy Commissioner Babul Akhter were present in it. Police recovered one pistol, 9 hand grenade, 10 sharp knives, and a number of bullets and other lethal weapons, explosive materials , and jehadi books from the den of outlawed mililtants.
