The recently concluded 8th partnership dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States discussed the common commitment of the two countries to democratic rule and human rights as the fundamental basis of the partnership. Besides, Bangladesh’s joining the Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) was also discussed. The US wants Bangladesh join most of the areas of this initiative, which include economic, security and technological elements. It also wants Bangladesh on its side as its endeavours to end the war in Ukraine, says a top American diplomat.
While speaking to the media on Sunday, US Undersecretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland stated that a war is going on between autocratic and democratic forces. Our people made maximum sacrifice for living honourably under democracy. We know what sort of society we want to build. Our leadership fell victim of undemocratic manipulation and democratic leadership. America had no time to pay attention to save dictatorial politics of killing democracy. America is the super power of democratic free world but lacks courage and determination to uphold its greatness. It is the US weakness that prompted President Putin’s boldness to invade an independent country to impose Russian kind of oppressive rule. The war is between Mr Putin and NATO. Bravery of Ukraine people was the major factor for not yielding to Russia’s military dictatorship. Russia challenges the Western powers to invade Ukraine.
We want friendship with both Russia and China as well but not their politics of army backed dictatorship.
Words of support should be backed by real war support with long ranged weapons and more Russian people must also know that war has military consequences. We are fed up hearing only of economic sanctions. Desperate Putin does not care economic sanctions. He is capable in using nuclear weapons without care that it will mean end of Russia. To be too cautions in a war is not wisdom for the Western powers.
As against the oppression of gun power dictators we want to see the voting power of the people to free them by having a people’s government through the people’s vote. Army is organised as a defence force against enemies of the people outside and not to be used against it’s own people. It is a shame and must not be endorsed.
