CLNB recalls memories of Benin martyrs

Speakers at discussion titled “Bangladesh’s Success in UN Peacekeeping” on Saturday recalled the memories of Bangladesh army men those embraced martyrdom in a plane crash in the West African country of Benin in 2003.
Fifteen Bangladeshi army officers on UN peacekeeping missions in Sierra Leone and Liberia died in December 25, 2003, incident.
While praying for the eternal peace of departed souls, former minister M Faruk Khan, MP, said, “Bangladesh has been recognized for contributing with highest number of personnel to the UN peacekeeping mission. Bangladesh government is considering how to work more intensively to develop economic relations with the countries concerned with UN peacekeeping mission.”
Coalition of Local NGOs, Bangladesh, (CLNB) organized the discussion.
Organization Chairman Harunur Rashid presided over the function, while Dhaka University teacher and National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh member Professor Akhter Hossain were present, among others.
