Clinic vandalised as ‘wrong treatment’ kills woman

Incensed at a female patient’s death allegedly because of wrong treatment, her relatives in a sudden swoop vandalised a private clinic in Station Road area of Tongi on Tuesday night.
Police and locals said Kabir Hossain, a resident of Auchpara area of the city, had taken her wife Selina,28, to the private clinic, Seba Shushrasha Hospital, with complaints of serious neck pain at about 7:00 pm.
Her condition was noticed worsening there just after on-duty doctor Ekramul Haque pushed an injection into her body.
Later, Selina was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
But her husband Kabir later took her to Uttara Adhunik Hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead at about 10:00 pm.
As the death news spread, the patient’s relatives, aided by locals, stormed Seba Shushrasha Hospital and carried out vandalism there at about 10:30 pm.
Informed, police rushed to the spot and quelled the unrest by charging the attacking people with truncheon, which left five people injured.
The patient’s relatives vented their anger alleging that she (patient) died because of wrong treatment.
