Nazrul Islam, 43, a private clinic owner in Harianakundu town was chopped and gunned down at a field of Alamdanga – Harinakundu bordering area on Monday afternoon. Nazrul Islam was running a clinic Anwara Clinic for past few years. He is the son of ex union parishad chairman Lutfar Rahman of Tiorbilla of Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga. His father was also gunned down in his house about 20 years back while he was an incumbent chairman of a local union parishad in Chuadanga.
Locals and police said, Nazrul after the lunch was marching towards his private clinic at about 3.00 PM on his motor bike. When he arrived near Saibhanga, a local crop land, the miscreants who were awaiting there with arms and ammunition stopped the bike opened shots. They ensured the death chopping his bodies on the spot.
Police suspected that the miscreants, who were convicted for 17 years following the murder of his father, might kill Nazrul to take revenge. The police said, Outlawed mastermind Oltu Bahini chief, son of Jharu Mandal of Tiorbilla under the same upazila was released from the prison after 17 years. The court convicted him in the killing case of Nazrul’s father Lutfar Rahman.
Nazrul Islam in a case had surrendered to the court in an abduction case filed about 15 years back. He was released and participated in the union parishad polls in favour of the Awami league in the locality. On the other hand the terrorist bahaini mastermind Oltu worked for an independent candidate during the polls. The enmity following the polls as well as enmity with his father might lead to the killing, the police said.
Officer in charge of Alamdanga police staion Atiar Rahman when contacted said, the spot was a long distance from this police station, but he was informed about the killing incident, the OC said.
