Climate change is becoming a threat to the urban environment and development and the uncertainty that arises due to climate change needs to be considered in the overall urban risk management framework, said speakers at a discussion.
They viewed all the vulnerability issues need to be brought under comprehensive risk based master plan to accommodate at least 30 percent more people from vulnerable rural areas around these cities only due to climate change.
The observations came at the inaugural session of a training workshop titled “City Corporation Financial Management for Inclusive and Climate Resilient Urban Development”.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and Local Government Division jointly organized the training in RCC conference hall in association with GIZ. Some 27 people including RCC Ward Councilors and officials concerned joined the workshop.
