Clients now can open accounts with Sonali Bank from home

From now on the interested clients will be able to open accounts with Sonali Bank Limited staying at home as the bank authorities has taken necessary measures to give them protection from the impact of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
For opening up account, any client does not need to go physically before any branch of the Sonali Bank.
The authorities of Sonali Bank will now use a software of the ICT Division titled “Porichoy” to scrutinize the pictures and other personal information of the clients through automatic method. This software can instantly verify any information (KYC) of the client with the Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA).
State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak said, “The partnership among Sonali Bank Ltd, Ministry of ICT, Porichoy and Bangladesh National Digital Architecture, is an excellent example for implementing e-KYC as determined by the Bangladesh Bank, said a press release.
The Sonali Bank Ltd has created an example in the banking arena through showing on how to provide modern banking services at the doorsteps of clients by using the digital method ‘Porichoy’ gateway.”
Sonali Bank Chairman Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui said, “This is the demand of time. Under this changed scenario, we’ve taken initiative to open bank accounts through online to provide ICT-based banking services to the doorsteps of clients. Under this initiative, any client will be able to open bank account within 2 minutes staying at home.,”
He also vowed that his bank would continue such operations to implement the user-friendly digitalized financial system with the active support from the ICT Division and with direct motivation from PM’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed.
Sonali Bank Ltd Managing Director and CEO Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan said, “We’ve taken this initiative to provide facilities to our clients for opening up accounts with our bank through using the Sonali e Sheba Apps under KYC without bringing any of our clients to our branches in this new world. With the passage of time, we’ll expand this service further,”
