Having regained considerable ground after a clean chit in the IPL probe followed by backing from the BCCI, N Srinivasan on Friday requested the Supreme Court to reinstate him as the BCCI president.
Srinivasan, the ICC Chairman, filed an affidavit in the SC requesting the apex court to allow his return to the BCCI top post since his name has been cleared by the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee that probed the IPL spot-fixing scandal.
Bringing up the findings of the Mudgal committee that found nothing incriminating against him, Srinivasan said, “I voluntarily stepped aside as the BCCI chief pending inquiry by the Mudgal panel. Now that nothing has been found against me, allow me to be reinstated as the BCCI president.
Earlier on Friday, the BCCI too filed an affidavit in the SC maintaining that it’s incorrect to say Srinivasan and four others didn’t act despite knowing about a player violating code of conduct, which was mentioned in the final report submitted by the Mudgal committee.
The next hearing on the case is on November 24.
