‘Clean Our Country Day’ observed in Rajshahi

The Rajshahi event of “Clean Our Country Day” was observed in the city on Saturday in a bid to encourage cleanliness and protect environment programme.
Hundreds of volunteers participated in a clean-up programme from Moni Crossing to Borokuthi amusement park in the city from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. The young volunteers cleaned up open places, residential areas, roads, educational institutions, parks, rivers, and other public and private establishments.
Youths from different other social and volunteer organisations, educational institutions and locals participated in the clean-up programme in separate groups.
The volunteers also created awareness among the people and encouraged them to keep their own areas clean throughout the year.
“Poriborton Chai,” a social organisation, arranged the programme marking the “Let’s Clean up the Country Day-2015”.
Afterwards, the collected filth and dirt were dumped into the filling point of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) at Borokuthi.
To observe the day, Poriborton Chai, a voluntary organization, will clean city streets, parks, amusement places and open spaces from 4:00pm to 6:00pm tomorrow. More than 400 volunteers are expected to take part in the drive.
Famous writer Prof Hassan Azizul Haque, Mayor-in-Charge of RCC Nizamul Azim, Chairman of Poriborton Chai Fida Haque, Event Coordinator Atikur Rahman, Professor Murshida Binte Habib of Rajshahi University, Chief Conservancy Officer of RCC Sheikh Mamun, Chairman of Neuron Foundation Saiful Islam and Co-founder of Poriborton Chai Didarul Islam were present on the occasion.
