The first year intermediate classes under 2019 academic session in all the Higher Secondary Educational Institutions will begin from July 1.
The Education Ministry took the decision in a meeting held recently at the Secretariat, the ministry sources said.
A guideline was issued on Monday in this regard.
According to the guideline, the students, who will pass SSC and its equivalent examinations, will be selected on the basis of their results.
The results of the SSC and its equivalent examinations are supposed to be published in May this year.
Applications for admission into colleges have been mandated and it is to be completed on online or through SMS service on the State-run Teletalk mobile service operator.
For online application, students have to log on to www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd.
Aspirants can apply for admission into at least five colleges or a maximum of 10 colleges with Tk 150 for per college application. For applying through SMS, the fee is Tk 120.
Students will have to apply for the colleges from May 12 to May 23. Applications will be scrutinised until May 26, the guideline said.
College change applications will be accepted until June 5.
