At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of people at Ghashitula in the city on Wednesday night over a trifling matter.
Local sources said a function for inauguration of United House Owners Association started around 9.30 pm at Ghashitula where Chatra League leader Tayef Ahmed was playing music in a high volume.
Some people went to him and asked him to stop playing music but he refused.
Later Saleh Ahmed, local ward councillor, asked him to lower the volume but a brawl ensued between him and Tayef, triggering a clash between two groups-one led by Tayef and another by Saleh.
Supporters of Saleh vandalised Tayef’s office while the locals heard sound of gunshots.
Twenty people from both sides, including Tayef, were injured.
Some of them were rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Being informed, police reached the spot and fired blank shots to control the situation.
No case was filed in this connection.
