Abdullah Al-Rakib, Abu Sufian Shakil and Vahidov Tair shared the top slot after the fifth round of the CJKS-Prime Distributions Group Grandmasters Chess Tournament at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Monday.
The trio earned 3.5 points each.
In the fifth round matches, GM Abdullah Al-Rakib of Bangladesh Navy beat WGM Toma Katarzyna of Poland while IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Dhaka Mohammedan SC played drew against IM Minhazuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy and GM Vahidov Tair of Uzbekistan beat IM Akshat Palit of India.
In the other fifth round matches, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy beat GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan SC and FM Khandakar Aminul Islam lost to IM Somak Palit of India.
The sixth round matches will begin today at 2:30pm at the same venue.
