CJ urges lower court judges to dispose of older cases on a priority basis

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said that the judges have to be vigilant so that the disputes of the justice seekers are disposed of in a short time. He also urged the judges for disposal of the older cases on a priority basis.
The Chief Justice said this while addressing the District and Sessions Judges and Metropolitan Sessions Judges of 64 districts of the

country on Wednesday evening through a virtual platform.
He also urged the judges of the lower courts to ensure full use of the judicial working hours. He assured all possible cooperation in resolving the case backlog.
At that time, the judges of the lower court also placed various issues including infrastructural problems to the Chief Justice. Upon hearing the speeches of the judges the Chief Justice assured them to resolve the problems.
Addressing the judges, Law Minister Anisul Huq said that they had to dispose of a significant number of cases in the ‘Mujib Borsho’.
He said that the judicial activities were disrupted for five months due to Coronavirus pandemic. It impacted the case disposal rate at that time. Now the judges have to look how to get out of this situation and how to dispose of more number of cases.
Law Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar and Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Shawkat Ali Chowdhury also gave speeches on the occasion.
Besides, District and Sessions Judges and Metropolitan Sessions Judges of 64 districts of the country were also connected in the session through video conferencing.
