CJ forms 8 HC vacation Benches

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain constituted eight High Court (HC) Benches with 13 judges for disposing important cases during the ongoing vacation of the Supreme Court.
Both the High Court Division and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court went on a 16-day vacation from August 2 to 17. The Supreme Court will reopen on August 18.
Of the eight vacation Benches, five are two-member (Division) Benches and three are one-member (single) Benches. The two-member benches of Justice
S M Emdadul Hoque and Justice S M Kuddus Zaman, Justice Borhanuddin and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan, Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice S M Maniruzzaman, Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Mohammad Ali and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman will conduct Division Benches, while Justice Md Khasruzzaman, Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar and Justice Md Salim will conduct single Benches to deal important cases during the vacation period.
Five vacation Benches of the HC will deal with the cases from 11.00 am to 1:00 pm, one will conduct cases from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm and two benches will conduct cases from 11.00 am to 1.15 pm during their scheduled working days, according to a notice issued by the Chief Justice on July 29. The notice was published on the Supreme Court website.
According to the Supreme Court sources, apart from the formation of the High Court Benches, the Chief Justice has assigned Justice Md Nuruzzaman as the Vacation Judge of the Appellate Division to deal with the emergency cases during the vacation period.
