The mega tree plantation programme was implemented in Raozan upazila of Chittagong district duly initiated by the chairman of the Parliamentay standing committee on Ministry of Railway and local legislator ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP .
Within one hour from 11 am to 12noon on July 25 last , 4 lakh 50 thousand saplings were planted within the upazila area spontaneously participated by the public representatives, upazila administration, agri department, teachers and students , journalists, elite persons of the society and all people of different professions irrespective of caste and creed in the plantation program.
There is no precedents of such type of plantation programs globally earlier, said a number of intellectuals and elites of the society.
The conscious civil society opined this type of exceptional tree plantation program should be recognized in world Guinness Book .
Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Directorate Md. Aminul Hoque Chowdhury said almost all the saplings so planted are the origin from high quality seeds of tree. Half of the 4.5 lakh saplings are fruit based clone saplings and the rest are grown from seeds of quality fruit and forestry based saplings. DAE official also opined that the output from the clone saplings is expected to be visible by next three years.
He also hoped that from the clone saplings , the annual output expected about 40 to 45 thousands metric tons and the outputs from other seed based sapling are expected within 6 to 7 years next. Professor of Animal Sciences of Chittagong University Dr. Manzurul Kibria who is also related with the environment preservation movement told that expressed satisfaction with the mega tree planting of Raozan implemented recently. He expressed that when the world is annoyed with the impact of climate change , on that time the tree plantation of 4.5 saplings in Raozan upazila under Chittagong is really a matter of joy and good message for climate preservation.
He further opined that the conscious circles of the world should be be more delighted with the plantation program of Raozan and this first ever mega tree plantation news should be recorded in Guinness.

President of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) and noted journalist Mohammad Ali expressed his views over witnessing the saplings so planted beside the roads and highways in queue that this extraordinary achievement of tree plantation in Raozan, Chittagong was successfully done with cordial efforts of the local lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP who desires the appreciations of the world community. His name may also be recorded in Guinness world record .
To imbue the people of the Raozan Upazila towards tree plantation and to create public opinions took about 3 months by with relentless efforts of Raozan Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Shamim Reza. Md. Shamim Reza also said this mega tree plantation program was completed within the stipulated time of one hour successfully defying the inclement weather .
Later about 22 thousand saplings damaged by natural disaster which was replaced by new saplings instantly. He opined if such great achievement of tree plantation for sustaining the ecological balance is recognized by world Guinness Book , people of the other areas of the country as well in abroad will be inspired for implementing such types of exclusive programs in future.
Chairman of the Metropolitan Journalists Welfare Fund , an elderly journalist and media researcher Md. Sarwar uddin Ahmed told that there is no such records of mega tree plantation within one hour across the world like Raozan Upazila of Bangladesh.
