Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader on Friday said that several civil society people had created one-eleven changeover in 2007 with cooperation of some politicians.
“The civil society had a direct role behind the one-eleven changeover. The army-backed Caretaker Government could conduct anti-politics activities for them. Many of the politicians extended their direct support to those controversial activities to get advantages,” Quader said this while addressing at a view exchange meeting organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.
BCL organized the meeting to make success of Awami League’s public meeting
to be held at Suhrawardi Uddyan marking the historic March 7.
Presided over by BCL President Saifur Rahman Shohag, the meeting was also addressed by Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary Abdur Razzaq, AL central committee member Enamul Haq Shamim, and BCL General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain.
Obaidul Quader, a presidium member of ruling AL, said politicians had many things to learn from the one-eleven.
“The AL is now more organized as it had learnt from that. But, BNP could not take any lesson from there,” he added.
The Minister added those who are thinking that another one-eleven-like situation would be created in the country are doing a mistake. This dream will not come true.
