Civic life in the port city again paralysed yesterday following the heavy shower and impact of sea tide accompanied with the release of Kaptai dam. The rive flow in the karnafully alarmingly risen with tide water of sea .
Many low-lying areas in port city including Bakalia, Chandgaon, Bahadderhat, Chawk Bazar, Badurtala, Nasirabad, Halishahar, Patenga, Kattali, and Chaktai have gone under knee-deep water again following the torrential rains for the last two days. The inhabitants of those low-lying areas remained stranded for inundation specifically during sea tide hour.

As a result, the drains and canals of the city and all the rivers of the district were full to the brim of rainwater causing inundation of the low-lying areas by overflow. The meteorological department advised the ports to hoist the Signal number 3.
Sources said, loading and unloading at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port has been disrupted on Wednesday due to the rough weather. Meanwhile, the unloading of rice from the ship MV Visad which had started at Chittagong port from Tuesday morning stopped Wednesday due to rough weather.
Locals alleged that CCC could do nothing better to free the city-dwellers from the curse of water-logging. So, water logging makes the life of Chittagong city dwellers miserable as the roads and low laying areas inundated in rainy season in every year.
As a result, water logging became one of the prime problems of the port city during rainy season every year. Normal raining is causing the water logging in the low-lying areas in the city regularly. So, the city dwellers in the low-lying areas of Chittagong always suffered due to the water logging.
